Perm (Russian: Пермь, IPA: [pʲermʲ] ; Komi-Permyak: Перем; Komi: Перым), previously known as Yagoshikha (Ягошиха; 1723–1781) and Molotov (Молотов; 1940–1957), is the administrative centre of Perm Krai in the European part of Russia. It sits on the banks of the Kama River near the Ural Mountains, covering an area of 799.68 square kilometres (308.76 square miles). Until 1 December 2005, Perm Oblast (Russian: Пе́рмская о́бласть) was a federal subject of Russia (an oblast) in Privolzhsky (Volga) Federal District. According to the results of the referendum held in October 2004, Perm Oblast was merged with Komi-Permyak Autonomous Okrug to form Perm Krai. It was established in 1938 as part of the RSFSR. From 1940 to 1957 it was named Molotov Oblast in honor of Vyacheslav Molotov.

Yegoshikha Cemetery (Russian: Егошихинское кладбище, romanized: Yegoshikhinskoye kladbishche) is the principal cemetery of the Russian city of Perm. It takes its name from the Yegoshikha River which borders it and was founded in the second half of the 18th century. In 1784, the governor of Perm and Tobolsk, Eugene Kashkin, ordered the construction of a church for burying the dead.
