The siege of Ak-Mechet was one of the first major engagements of the Russo-Kokand war, fought between the Khanate of Kokand and the Russian Empire. Russia had previously failed to capture the city, so a larger force was dispatched under Vasily Perovsky, initiating a prolonged siege from July 2 to July 28, 1853. After Russian forces created a breach in the walls, the city was rapidly assaulted and captured.
