Migdal Afek (Hebrew: מגדל אפק), also Migdal Tsedek (Tzedek, Zedek; Hebrew: מגדל צדק), is a national park on the southeastern edge of Rosh HaAyin, Israel. The ruins of a fortified manor house built by a sheikh during the 19th century, among which remains of the Crusader castle of Mirabel can be seen, are today known in Hebrew as Migdal Afek or Migdal Tsedek. It is the site of the depopulated Palestinian village of Majdal Yaba.

Majdal Yaba (Arabic: مجدل يابا) was a Palestinian Arab village in the Ramle Subdistrict, 18.5 kilometres (11.5 mi) northeast of Ramla and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) east of Jaffa. A walled Jewish settlement name Migdal Aphek (Hebrew: מגדל אפק, lit. 'Tower of Aphek'; Ancient Greek: Αφεχού πύργος) stood at the same site as early as the second century BCE, and it was later destroyed by the Romans during the First Jewish–Roman War in 67 CE. In the Crusader period, a fort named Mirabel was built at the site. Muslim 13th-century sources mention it as Majdal Yaba.

These springs are one of the water resources of the Yarkon River. Until the 20th century, the water of the Rosh HaAyin springs flew into the Yarkon River, but nowadays most of the water of the Rosh HaAyin springs is used in various irrigation projects and does not reach the Yarkon River.

The Kafr Qasim massacre took place in the Israeli Arab village of Kafr Qasim on 29 October 1956, when the Israel Border Police killed 49 Palestinian civilians, including 19 men, 6 women and 23 children. Israeli forces had imposed a curfew on the village in the morning of the 29th on the eve of the Sinai War, and when a number of villagers who had been away and were unaware of the curfew returned, they were massacred. From 1949 to 1966, Arab citizens were regarded by Israel as a hostile population.
